starter motor
The starter motor is a device that uses gears (also known as the flywheel ring gear) and contributes to turn on an internal combustion engine. The most important role of the starter motor is to change electrical energy from the battery into mechanical power that spins the primary gear on the engine's crank-shaft, turning it and starting the engine. The starter is equipped with technical features for in-cylinder robustness (thermal and vibration, e.g.), warranty track record and precision to ensure reliable performance. It usually contains moving armature, a fixed set of brushes a commutator and a field winding. They are used in a wide array of vehicles, such as cars, trucks and motorcycles and also in large equipment machines like gensets.
